The Dubai Ports World deal
Let me take this opportunity to say that I don't buy into the hysteria about the ports deal. GWB didn't have a tin ear politically, if it's true that he didn't know about the deal before it was in the media, and it's his M.O. to defend his administration's actions - loyalty from the top down. And until somebody can make a good case that having a company from the UAE, specifically, running these ports poses an increased risk to homeland security, I'm not buying that argument. I mean, they'll just be writing checks to the dockwokers while the Coast Guard and Customs do the actual security work. So everybody just take a deep breath, and let's find something more important to fret about...
... like the statement by THK spokesman Xavier Hermasillo that those of us who got laid of on 2/9 received a "severance package" (http://www.newsobserver.com/104/story/410624.html). Is there something coming to us that we're unaware of? Anyone? Bueller???
BTW, the interview today seemed to go well. Different people and companies definitley have different interviewing styles, I'll say that.
More to come....
